Soft Palate
Intense uptake involving the soft palate is a normal and extremely common finding. Such uptake is considered physiologic, unless accompanied by an associated soft tissue abnormality on the CT images.
On axial PET images, this uptake appears very rounded and “mass-like”.
On sagittal images, soft palate uptake demonstrates an elongated configuration.
