Lung

Normal lung parenchyma is non-avid, with SUV’s (maximum, lean body mass) ranging from 0.3-0.6.

Respiratory motion is very common problem when evaluating the pulmonary parenchyma, as the CT portion of the exam typically does not utilizing a breath-hold technique (to minimize misregistration artifact).

Most radiologists recommend shallow tidal breathing during the CT exam, although an end-expiration tidal breath-hold is advocated by some (addressed here).

The following specific pulmonary topics are covered separately:

  • Lung Nodules  (here)
  • Lung Cancer  (here)
  • Radiation-Induced Lung Disease (RILD)  (here)
  • Post-Therapeutic Inflammatory Changes/Scarring  (here)
  • Acute Infiltrate/Inflammation/Atelectasis  (here)
