Testes
The testes are normally hypermetabolic, often intensely FDG-avid.
Uptake is typically symmetric and diminishes with advancing age.
A suspicion for malignancy should be raised if:
- One testis demonstrates significantly greater uptake than the other; or
- A focus of intense activity presents within an otherwise moderately avid testis.
Any potential testicular PET/CT abnormality will require ultrasound evaluation.
